Dogecoin (DOGE)

Dogecoin (DOGE) was created as a joke as an alternative to traditional cryptocurrencies, but it quickly won over and held a large online community of crypto enthusiasts around it. The name and logo of the Shiba Inu dog are based on an internet meme.

To the creators' surprise, Dogecoin gained popularity almost immediately, with over a million visitors to dogecoin.com in its first month. Part of what made Dogecoin so popular is that it is a fully fledged cryptocurrency, with its own blockchain and mining system similar to the one Litecoin uses.

Dogecoin is a P2P open source digital currency and unlike Bitcoin, Dogecoin does not have a specific maximum supply available and 10,000 new coins are mined every minute.
